  2. is one of the best diffuse nebula easily
  3. visible to the naked eye. M8 surrounds 
  4. the small young star cluster NGC6530. 
  5. The nebula is known for having a number 
  6. small dark "globules" of material 
  7. believed to be stars at the very 
  8. beginning of formation or "protostars". 
  9. Overall M8 is over 100 light years 
  10. across, its central regions
  11. a more modest 50 light years in diameter.
